Sabbatical

If I were a professor, that is what I'd call my absence. But I'm not, so instead I have decided to give you a list of excuses for why it has been six weeks since I last posted:

1. I'm a lawyer. If there is one thing lawyers have in common with each other, it is their uncanny ability to put off today what can be done tomorrow. Any of you who have had the pleasure of retaining legal counsel can attest to this fact.

2. I hate my camera and the unskilled photographer behind the lens. I once told my friend Samara that I could never scrapbook because I hate my handwriting. When I buy birthday/get well/friendship cards I always buy two of the same because I inevitably hate my handwriting so much on the first one that I throw it away and try again on the second. I now realize I feel the same about photographs. I can take a photo of the same still ten times and not be satisfied. Part of the problem is that I have a plain ol' run of the mill digital camera from Best Buy which has a super slow shutter speed. Another problem is I know nothing about light and angles. I think i am going to take an online photography class this summer to grasp the basis a little better.

3. I can't get my computer to connect to my internet at home. Ok, this is really the biggest obstacle. We have your standard wireless internet through our cable company and I can NEVER get online with my laptop. Matt's laptop connects with great accuracy and speed, but not mine. The most frustrating thing is that I have no problem connecting anywhere else. My office (although they purchased the laptop and service through our IT service)will not cover the expense of IT troubleshooting at home. So, I lumber through the dark ages on the weekends. I can respond to e-mails via my Blackberry and I can venture the 8 blocks from my house to my office if I need to...but I really want to do the blogging at home. I guess I will have to break down and pay for the IT dudes to come over and figure out the problem.

Ok, that is all I have right now.
